Abstract

This study aims to understand how technological innovations have impacted nursing practice and contributed to patient safety. Within the scope of a narrative literature review, the objective is to demonstrate that tools such as electronic health records, artificial intelligence, and monitoring devices have helped reduce care-related errors, improve team communication, and increase the accuracy of clinical decision-making. Digitalization facilitates access to information and promotes integrated action among healthcare professionals. Despite the benefits, the adoption of these technologies still faces challenges such as resistance to change, lack of training, and data security risks, requiring attention to the General Data Protection Law (LGPD). The article emphasizes the importance of involving nurses in the development and use of these technologies and highlights the need for public policies that ensure equitable access to innovations, especially in contexts with limited infrastructure.
