Abstract

This is the volume for the second half of 2014 of Humanitas. The set of eight articles gathered in this issue revolve around the learning of children and adults. In the first of them, CONSTRUCTION OF THE CODE OF CONDUCT AND ETHICS FOR COGNITIVE COACHING PROFESSIONALS, students were encouraged to reflect on the role of the coach and learn certain applied concepts, experiencing them through the process of double conceptualization.

The second article, EVALUATION OF THE THEORETICAL-CONCEPTUAL METHOD OF COGNITIVE COACHING IN GRADUATE COURSES, evaluates the theoretical-conceptual method of cognitive coaching developed and applied by the author of the article over the course of 20 years of activity as a learning mediator.

THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING – PHILOSOPHY AND ECOLOGY, the third article, reflects on nature, human beings, spirituality and their interactions.

The fourth article, THE IMPORTANCE OF PUBLIC PROJECTS FOR SOCIAL AND URBAN REVITALIZATION IN HISTORIC CENTERS, reveals the secrets and mysteries that lie beneath the pavement and squares, similar to the facades that reveal the use of the property and the pleasure of the population in living in the historic center of Santos, defending the need to preserve these properties.

The article, THE COMPETENCIES OF THE 21ST CENTURY TEACHER: TECHNOLOGY AS A SUPPORT TOOL, addresses the contributions of information and communication technologies to the learning process of children and the importance of the teacher as a mediator in this process. The problem in which it is inserted is related to the difficulty that many teachers feel when faced with technological resources, revealing that they are not prepared to use technological resources in the classroom.

The article DEVELOPMENT OF READING AND WRITING IN THE EARLY GRADES lists the main concepts that guide the reading and writing process, arguing that the teacher should organize his/her work considering the different dimensions of the literacy process, which, in turn, should be taken as guiding axes of the work in the classroom and help children who present some type of difficulty in the reading and writing process.

In Brazil, school assessments have been marked by processes that reveal different purposes: some are used to quantify data and list unattained and attained skills, and others to monitor the students' learning process and propose interventions that aim to attain the skills. The article FORMATIVE EVALUATION: Monitoring the teaching-learning process deals with the principles of formative evaluation, seeking to identify the implications for learning and educational practice in schools.

The last article GAMES AS A SCHOOL ACTIVITY AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF ORAL LANGUAGE IN CHILDREN AGED 4 TO 5 presents a review of the concepts of learning and development, highlighting the importance of oral language, as it is a decisive process in the development of children's thinking and speech.

The articles presented provide an opportunity for reflection and reveal the movement of positions in contemporary debates in the educational field. Texts from different areas of research are brought together, revealing the complexity of the field.
