Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the possibility of cultivating microalgae with accessible materials, without the use of advanced technologies, to prove their importance in the production of biofuel. PET bottles, an aquarium pump to provide oxygen, urea and a microscope were used to make the photobioreactors. Samples were collected from different points in the city and their pH was analyzed. Algal growth was monitored. The biomass was filtered and then dried. All analysis procedures were performed in the laboratory with the help of a group of high school students from Colégio Estadual Profº Maria de Lourdes Morozowski, located in the city of Paranaguá - PR.
