Abstract
This work brings some reflections on the importance of establishing an understanding of the economic and social context of children in order to promote the evolution of their learning. The methodology adopted is based on bibliographic material relating to reading and its function, such as that of Magda Soares, Zilbermann and the philosopher Marilena Chauí. The choice of the theme, as well as its delimitation, arose from the need to find an effective way to help children in the process of acquiring reading skills, through remote classes, during the pandemic period and the return to school in 2022 Based on the reflections that emerged during the pedagogical practice and the challenges faced, we present some observations regarding the importance of access to reading for children who did not have the opportunity to attend early childhood education and have difficulties in the literacy process.
