Abstract
This work presents reflections on the formation of readers in the early years of elementary education. The methodology adopted is the review of bibliographic material related to the research topic, based on authors such as Fazenda, Soares, Alarcão, Franchi, Marques, and Fonseca. The results demonstrate that the formation of readers requires debate of ideas and reflection on interpersonal relationships. It is through social and cultural insertion that the student of Elementary Education will be able to become a reader with continuous formation and move forward, overcoming the obstacles that arise in front of their reading of the world. And thus, this young person will be given an effective opportunity to "read the world" that surrounds them and, in this way, become a citizen with autonomy. Between words and phrases, in the search for the meaning of these, the reader, in this case the elementary school student, will find ways to acquire knowledge and overcome denser and more complex readings.
