Abstract

This project focuses on the engagement of the team of PIBID scholarship interns in the History discipline, together with the collaboration of a librarian from a public elementary school in Santos/SP. Students, armed with their artistic talents and life experiences, actively participate, promoting reading. All students at the school are invited to participate, with the installation of an exclusive Ice Library for them. The objective is to encourage students to read and use the Geloteca. The methodology used is observational research that uses a refrigerator transformed by students to store books of interest, including comic books and materials for study and entertainment. The Geloteca, with a variety of genres, seeks to reach children and young people, providing joy through knowledge and intellectual discovery. The results indicated active participation by students, demonstrating interest in exploring the Ice Library and taking books home. The guidance of the artist, a member of the PIBID scholarship group, was fundamental, especially with the ninth year students. Reading, recognized as transforming lives and promoting character development, has been valued throughout the project. The constant exchange of books is observed as a healthy practice to keep the project dynamic and relevant. In short, the enthusiasm for the project, the care with reading and the active participation of the students have enriched discussions in various subjects, including History, in addition to promoting the correct use of the cultured language.
