Abstract

This work presents a study on the implementation of anti-racist pedagogical practices in a school in the Brazilian context, focusing on the experience in a school in Santos - SP with students in the 8th and 9th year of Elementary School. The central objective was to investigate students' perception and experience regarding racism in the school environment and promote anti-racist awareness and education. A methodology was used that included the application of questionnaires to understand the students' ethnic-racial identifications and their experiences with racism, in addition to the implementation of educational activities such as visits to the Café Museum, classes on women in cinema and racism in cinema. The results indicate that a significant portion of students had not witnessed or been the target of racism at school, while almost half of them had already witnessed or been victims of racist acts. These data highlight the importance of pedagogical practices that not only address diversity and inclusion theoretically, but also prepare students to act against racism in practice. It is concluded that anti-racist education is essential in the formation of conscious citizens, promoting an inclusive school environment and social justice. This study reinforces the need for a continued commitment to anti-racist education in schools, involving the entire school community.
