Abstract
Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have the right to an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), a document which ensures equity and the continued education of students with ASD in the educational system, promoting an education based on the Incheon Declaration, which advocates for inclusive and equitable education. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the develpment of the IEP in a collaborative manner among the team, the family, and the school of an 11-year-old student from the elementary school level (grades 1-5) in a private school in São Paulo. The methodology adopted a descriptive case study approach to emphazise the process of the development of the document. It was observed the possibility of partnership and involvement from the family and the therapeutic team to guide and contribute with specific data from each area of expertise. The school team was able to reformulate the way the IEP was developed based on scientific evidence, providing greater benefits for the student. This study reinforces the need for personalized educational strategies developed from an evaluation of skills and grounded in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) for the effectiveness of inclusive education.
