Abstract

This paper aims to highlight the importance of preserving the institutional documents to the "rescue" of memory research and development and knowledge construction. The case of Hostal Immigrant Santos is emblematic in this matter, because it suggests a lack of documentary sources for explaining various gaps concerning the construction, relevance, incompletion of the project, the original function and use.
