MARTIN AFONSO HOUSE: BUILDING HISTORIC, ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE Edria Esteves, Manoel Gonzalez

Abstract

The House Martim Afonso is an equipment of the Secretariat of Culture of the city of São Vicente, being at the service of research and dissemination of heritage, has a rich collection consists of documents and iconographic pieces that depict the city's history. The aim of this study is to present this cultural heritage and restoration process of the property built in 1898, in addition to emphasizing the importance to the community and visitors that physical space. Drawing on the research of the theoretical and documentary survey, it is concluded that the House Martim Afonso is a rare historic equipment in which it is possible to observe the importance of their own edification, documental history of São Vicente and the work done Bachelor in archaeological site and its exposure in the same physical space, allowing the visitation and understanding of the whole process from prospecting to exposure. Regarding the restoration process of the building of the nineteenth century, was made the option of a partial intervention, in opposition to the doctrines purely interventionists and anti-interventionists, for adequacy of security, accessibility and transformation into a museum.
