Abstract

This article addresses the long-standing concern about the scarcity of fossil fuels and its ongoing environmental impact. With the global oil reserves diminishing every decade, the need to explore alternative energy sources emerges. Thus, this article aims to analyze the feasibility of regasification terminals for the Port of Santos. It is expected that this alternative will affect fuel consumption and reduce emissions, as it involves a cleaner source of energy. This becomes even more important due to the environmental imbalances caused by the burning of fossil fuels, including the rise in temperatures due to carbon dioxide emissions. In this context, the use of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is presented as an alternative for transportation, surpassing the need for pipelines. For this purpose, qualitative and quantitative research and a literature review will be conducted to explore the feasibility of implementing this project.
