Abstract
The issue of sustainable development has currently become extremely important worldwide. One alternative for global decarbonization is the implementation of Green Hydrogen (H2V), which has already been used in some ports around the world, such as the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The Port of Pecém has been studied and assessed as having great potential for the development of H2V, due to its favorable climate for generating sustainable energy. In partnership with the Dutch port, operations are expected to begin in 2025. This research aims to present the benefits and challenges of implementing H2V in order to achieve zero carbon emissions, based on a comparative study of the Port of Rotterdam. The methodology used was a literature review, quantitative and qualitative analysis; with a comparative principle with the Dutch port mentioned. In this context, a critical analysis was made of the barriers and contributions that H2V can make to the port system and the environment.
