Abstract

This article provides an overview of the meteorological service in Brazil, as well as the main determinants of the provision of this service. The aim of this study is to discuss whether Brazil is self-sufficient in terms of the resources needed for accurate and reliable weather forecasting, comparing it to nations of similar economic significance. Through bibliographical and descriptive research with a qualitative approach, using scientific articles, international data from specialized websites, financial reports, and meteorological bulletins. In the end, the main results of the research are presented, indicating the strengths and weaknesses of this sector.
