Abstract
This article aims to contextualize the transformations that the port area has undergone in recent times from the perspective of employability and the relevance of the Port of Santos for the region. The study considered, after a literature review, conducting field research in order to understand and evaluate how society is connected to the port. The literature review allowed us to understand how labor issues have changed over time and the conception of the slowness of port processes that, consequently, delay the development of the port. The research carried out addressed a broad audience from the Baixada Santista region in order to understand and evaluate, through statistical results, how society is connected to the port. It is noted that society is connected to the port in a superficial way, where there is a fine line between knowing about its existence and knowing the opportunities that the sector offers. On the other hand, it is clear that the population of the Baixada Santista region feels qualified to be absorbed in the port area, however, they are not aware of the opportunities generated.
