ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AT THE PORT OF SANTOS: A STUDY ON PORT SUSTAINABILITY

Abstract

The theme of port sustainability has become a reference in the development of ports worldwide. In Brazil, the Port of Santos has implemented environmental practices focused on the preservation and efficiency of its operations. The overall objective of this article is to analyze the sustainability practices applied to environmental management at the Port of Santos. The methodology used was based on bibliographic and exploratory research, focusing on the sustainability reports from 2020, 2021, and 2022, and the Environmental Performance Index (IDA). The results indicate a significant evolution in the IDA, highlighting advancements in the adoption of clean energy and waste management. These actions reflect a positive impact on both ecological management and the operational efficiency of the port.
