Embarked workers: psychosocial risk factors involved
Main Article Content
Abstract
Some common characteristics of work aboard ships include daily situations that are harmful to health, such as family isolation, restrictions on leisure and rest for recovery. Conditions of little privacy and autonomy, in addition to the situation of confinement, can cause work-related stress and consequent psychological problems. This article seeks to reflect on psychosocial risk factors in workers aboard ships based on a survey of relevant literature and legislation. The study provides support for possible interventions that can encourage the well-being of these workers, a condition that is also necessary to reduce the rates of absenteeism and losses in productivity.
