Abstract
Port work has evolved as societies evolve and technologies advance. With the aim of investigating how professional qualification linked to port work in Brazil takes place in the face of technological innovations, qualitative research was carried out with a bibliographical review, taking into account the relevant legislation and institutional documents. It is concluded that, so that people are not left out of innovations, teaching and education need to reflect on their role and develop new themes, with new learning technologies - the development of generic competences indicates that it is a fruitful path to that. However, the need for new teaching methods in pedagogy and andragogy has challenged educators, governments, businesspeople and the community to reinvent themselves in educational policies.
