NAVIGATION ACCIDENTS AND FACTS: STRANDING OF THE SHIP EVER GIVEN. FACTICAL ANALYSIS OF THE ACCIDENT
Main Article Content
Abstract
Over time, due to high global demand, there has been a constant need to increase the length and width of vessels so that more containers can be transported. Container ships, for example, require increasingly wider channels, and if the dimensions of the channels do not keep up with the growth of these ships, the number of accidents tends to increase considerably. A clear example of this was the accident involving the Ever Given ship, which is the focus of this article. The research analyzes the factors that contributed to the accident. It is believed that human error and the region's weather conditions were the determining causes of the accident. However, due to the large size of the ship, the refloating operation took longer than it would have if it had been smaller, as the Suez Canal is narrower than the Ever Given..
