Main Article Content
Abstract
Brazilian port system has been receiving investments from public and private companies, aiming to promote its expansion and its development. The volume of imports and exports has been growing as new projects are developed, in order to provide efficiency in port areas. The Port of Imbituba, located in the south of Santa Catarina, stands out for being the only port in Santa Catarina that manages all types of cargo: containers, fertilizers, general cargo, liquid bulk and solid bulk. Combined with the increase in movement, there is an expectation of growth highlights the potential for development of the port complex for the entire region. This paper analyzes the current state of the international roads of the Port of Imbituba, focusing on the impacts caused by heavy traffic. It is observed that by the increasing of cargo movement, the need for maintenance it is intensified. Whitetopping pavement, a technique of coating concrete over the existing asphalt, is proposed as an alternative. This technique offers greater durability and resistance, being suitable for areas of heavy traffic. It was observed that whitetopping is a viable option to improve the infrastructure of the Port of Imbituba, ensuring operational efficiency and reducing maintenance costs in the long term.
