Abstract

There are several problems involving heat loss in pipes, heat exchangers, among others, and one of the points stand out are the steam traps , which although they are small devices , when there are maintenance problems , these values become significant and harmful for any industrial process. This study aimed to quantify the financial loss of a particular industrial process due solely to loss of energy (steam) in traps. Concluded that the results obtained a targeted maintenance is beneficial to the industry by reducing these losses
