Abstract

This work evaluated the use of quality tools and failure analysis methods in the investigation and determination of failures in an industrial equipment. Two selected methodologies, the PDCA cycle and the MASP, were used together with other quality tools, in the analysis of a pump used in an industrial plant for the production of sulfuric acid, chemical product of a large company of the industrial pole of Cubatão (SP). In this equipment, the occurrence of constant anomalies directly interferes in the production and economic yield of the process, causing undesirable events of corrective maintenance. The work pointed out that the methodologies used allow access to the root causes of failures, from which feasible solutions were proposed to guarantee and increase reliability of the manufacturing process.
