Abstract

There is a demand both form internal and external markets for the steelmakers to the development of AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steels) steels. One of several applications of these steels in the automotive industry is to use as the manufacturing material of shock absorbers and B-pillar support. This work aims to use traditional mechanical tests focused on the investigation of the effects of a circular mechanical notch in this type of application in an advanced high mechanical strength steel known as the complex phase (CP) of the AHSS family, from a new national production. Tensile tests results was compared to FEM analysis to develop a better behavior description of these materials in situations of non-impact stress concentration.
