Abstract
Reliability plays a fundamental role in the industrial sector. To conduct an in-depth study of machines and equipment and consequently obtain greater reliability, it is necessary to know the equipment. Therefore, it will be possible to determine the causes of failures and carry out a more careful analysis of the root cause of failures. At the same time, the study used on specific equipment can cover other equipment, which enhances the production sector and creates greater reliability for the product and maintenance. The objective of this article is to show a study through liquid penetrant inspection of how reliability plays a fundamental role in complex decisions that engineers, especially maintenance engineers, deal with in their daily lives, surveying the lifespan of the gears of a 1250 T press that presents cracks and fissures in its teeth and structure.
