Abstract

This paper investigates the convergence between the new media metaverse and the field of immersive education, highlighting how the metaverse can revolutionize teaching and learning methods. Through a literature review, the study maps several multidisciplinary applications of the metaverse and examines their impact on educational practices. Specific examples of the application of the metaverse in various disciplines, such as mathematics, physics, geography, history and space exploration, are presented to illustrate how this technology can make education more accessible, engaging and effective. It then discusses technologies used in the context of the metaverse, focusing on immersive glasses, also known as virtual reality (VR) HMDs (Head-Mounted Displays) and augmented reality (AR) glasses. These devices are essential for providing immersive experiences in digital and virtual environments. In the final considerations, it is observed that the metaverse offers new perspectives to visualize and interact with complex concepts, making the learning process more tangible and engaging. As metaverse technology continues to evolve, a significant transformation in the way teaching and learning is conducted is anticipated, empowering students to meet the challenges of a

constantly evolving world.
