Abstract

Chronic stress is associated with elevated cortisol levels and various physical and mental disorders. This study, through an integrative review, investigated the effects of Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) on reducing cortisol and improving quality of life. The results showed that Ashwagandha reduces serum or salivary cortisol levels and improves symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, and irritability, with doses of 300–600 mg/day and effects beginning in the fourth week. The safety profile was favorable, requiring further research in specific populations and with greater methodological rigor
