Abstract

 This study deals with the integration between the Pilates Method and bodybuilding. It describes the main characteristics of both practices and their advantages combined with training. The aim of the article was to analyze the possibility of Pilates Method in bodybuilding training. The bibliographic survey used the Scielo platform for academic works, from 2007 to 2018, in the areas of Physical Education and Physiotherapy. The Pilates Method presented positive aspects when integrated to the bodybuilding. Reduced repetition numbers, increased body awareness, and firm attention during training ensure strength and flexibility. By prioritizing breathing and posture, the Method can be practiced in addition to bodybuilding, which prioritizes the position of the legs and spine.
