Abstract
This study addresses the issue of the literacy process of students with special educational needs in the early years and the need for the school and all the educators in it to have an inclusive posture and receive adequate training so that the care offered have quality. This is an exploratory and descriptive research that uses the official documents of the Ministry of Education and Culture on inclusion and authors that address the issue of inclusion in a perspective of otherness. Some essential concepts are taken up so that literacy can be done from an inclusive perspective. The goal is to describe these concepts and those that are related to the development of reading skills. Children have significant difficulties in their perceptions and to teach them to read it is necessary to merge different procedures and include visual and gestural resources to support the child's activity.
