Abstract

The use of prostheses and orthotics are of paramount importance for the medical treatments they are intended for, and are subject to constant limitations by health insurance providers on their coverage. In this sense, the performance of the courts has been very important to combat this state of affairs. This premise was reached through consultations with the National Supplementary Health Agency, as well as case law and precedents on the subject. These restrictions imposed by health plans are abusive and subject to invalidity, and the physician should determine whether or not this material should be used for treatment.
