Neuroprotective effects of Exercise
Main Article Content
Abstract
Neurodegenerative diseases are a major public health problem, especially with population aging. This study analyzed the neuroprotective mechanisms of physical exercise in preventing neurodegenerative diseases. A literature review was carried out in PubMed, SciELO and Google Scholar. Results showed that regular exercise promotes neurogenesis, increases neurotrophic factors (BDNF, IGF-1), reduces oxidative stress and inflammation, and improves cerebral perfusion and cognitive functions. Physical exercise is a promising non-pharmacological strategy to prevent and slow down the progression of neurodegenerative diseases
