ANALYSIS OF WORKPLACE ACCIDENT RATES IN THE NATIONAL FISHING SECTOR BETWEEN 2011 AND 2014 Fernando Souza Almeida, Mauricio Blos

Abstract

This article compares national rates of occupational accidents in the freshwater and saltwater fishing and aquaculture sectors from 2011 to 2014. Official information from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security was used, through the 2014 Statistical Yearbook of Occupational Accidents. The analyses were performed using tables, with the legal basis for the analysis being the Recommendation of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Convention, approved in 2007. Accident rates were collected for the following activities: saltwater and freshwater fishing, saltwater and brackish water aquaculture, and freshwater aquaculture.
