Abstract
This article aims to demonstrate that the international recommendations and health indicators existing in the international commitments made by Brazil and
disseminated by organizations in which it is a member should be used as a starting point for the elaboration of updated health indicators, since these will allow the verification of health progress and public policies in an objective and effective manner, satisfying the international commitments it has and the internal demands for measuring public policies. It also seeks to show that the adoption of harmonized, clear health
indicators, complete data collection techniques and standardized procedures allows the efficient and objective collection of information, guaranteeing greater reliability in the measurement of results.
