Abstract

This article aims to emphasize the consequences of the lack of knowledgeof the Brazilian population of their rights regarding medical advice related to theirtreatments. It will be emphasized in the work that not only the health professional hasto master the therapy to be given to the patient, but his role goes beyond the techniquerequiring some sensitivity and humanization. It will be highlighted the differencebetween health professionals and their patients in understanding the disease, as well as the possible civil liability of those who in cases of providing incomprehensible information to patients may lead them to abandon treatment for lack of communicationthat is within their understanding.
