Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate, from the conceptual point of view of the World Health Organization, the self-perception of quality of life of adults from a coastal region of the State of São Paulo, considering possible differences by age group, sex and economic class. Method: 1126 adults were evaluated using the 8-item EUROHISQOL. Results: Men, older participants, and those from economic classes A and B presented higher means for their self-perception of quality of life. Conclusion: It is concluded that, despite its non-generalizable results, the research provides indications about age, sex and sociodemographic variables that can serve to guide possible interventions to increase the levels of quality of life of specific groups of the population, considering their peculiarities.
