Abstract
The present study aims to demonstrate the role of public policies in education in relation to poverty. The hypothesis is the depth of the influence of poverty on the development of unfamiliar people regarding the effectiveness of social public policies, as well as educational public policies, outlining a historical profile of both welfare policies related to the educational process and their applicability and scope. The objective of this research is to outline a profile of the efficiency of educational policies, as well as their impact, taking as a social basis the current economic and political situation, so that it is desired here to show aspects of weaknesses in the scope and adequacy of these educational policies. In the documentary and field research, with a sample of fifty students from a public school in which federal governments had their rights to study at regular intervals curtailed, through a methodological action of a focus group, it was possible to perceive that the country practices public policies, but still at a "snail's pace", but that services could be improved if the scope of application were closer to families. This study ends without a decisive conclusive proposition due to the fact that the research still continues to address other aspects that emerged from this research.
