Abstract

This paper analyzes the use of social networks on the Internet by the Military Police of the State of São Paulo. For this purpose, the performance of PMESP through the Center of Social Communication of PMESP, through the CCOMSOC Directive - 1/30 / was investigated. 10, in order to verify the effectiveness for the operational activity, effectiveness in its use and reflexes generated in the culture of the Institution. The research was based on social networks used by the institution by its members, available on the internet and intranet. Starting from a contextualization of what is internet and social networks, the main ones were presented, emphasizing those used by PMESP today. The study also presented aspects related to the use of social networks by other Brazilian military police. The importance of the use of social networks on the Internet by PMESP was demonstrated, which allowed the institution to expand its communication capacity with the Company, as well as to enhance the provision of services through these channels, also meeting an existing social demand. Finally, it was considered the relevance of updating by PMESP in order to follow the technological advances of society, in order to be inserted in the globalization process, generating positive effects in relation to the provision of better services to society.
