How is fauna treated in Brazilian legislation? Vladimir Stolzenberg Torres

Abstract

The effective definition of fauna in the legislation, as well as the types of fauna, represents an inconstant issue to be determined, and the objective of this study is to consolidate the existing concepts, in a dispersed manner, in the current legal provisions. With this, it is possible to consolidate concepts for wild fauna, aquatic fauna (ichthyological), exotic fauna, synanthropic fauna, and domestic fauna. The lack of legal definitions for urban and urbanized fauna was evidenced. Likewise, a deficit was found for endemic fauna, rural fauna, and native fauna (differentiating it from wild fauna).
