Abstract
This research shows that SUS waiting lines are a chronic problem in the country's public service, especially when it comes to women's reproductive health, exposing their vulnerability and the risks that this implies to their lives. Despite this, there are still few studies of social relevance that discuss this issue. In this sense, the object of this work is to analyze the issue related to uterine fibroids when there is surgical indication informed by the physician. This pathology is benign and affects women of childbearing age. Diagnosis is made through anamnesis performed by a specialist, based on the gynecological physical examination and imaging tests, which help the physician in choosing the treatment. The research is exploratory and descriptive, based on surveys carried out in the State of São Paulo, in the period 2019/2021. The research sources are doctrine books, legal journals, laws, jurisprudence, public manuals, opinions, regulatory norms. The study concludes that waiting for patients, the consequences of the delay in carrying out the surgery and the judicialization of the matter require the Judiciary to catalyze the provision of a public service that should, ordinarily, work in an organized and quick manner.
