Abstract
An original work seeks to examine the possible contradictions of the public and private interests in the case of privatization of the Foundation for Popular Medicine (Furp) “Chopin Tavares de Lima” in the State of São Paulo. The research is exploratory and descriptive, based on a bibliographic and documentary survey, drawing on the analysis of legislation, doctrine and scientific articles available in physical and digital media. It is important to note that the advancement of the private sector through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP), in the management of access to medicines by the population, contradicts the primacy of universal health, that is, the public health system it serves. and financial protection for the entire population and results in the weakening of the National Medicines Policy when facing epidemiological crises. Therefore, the Foundation for Popular Remedy of the State of São Paulo, qualified as the effectiveness of access to medicines by the population, respecting the principles inscribed in the Magna Carta, must remain under the aegis of the direct administration of the State. .
